That Head is Huge!

Sometimes a drawing looks OK while working on it then after a few hours and I wonder what I was thinking. In the set of drawings here, the head is much too large from an anatomical view, distortions of proportions aren’t always bad but ‘right or wrong depends on what you are trying to achieve. Lately I have been taking a photo of it then trying to fix it in GIMP ( open source photo-editing, has everything that Photoshop has and is ‘free’). I can do endless variations, and spend huge amounts of time doing so, without destroying the original. It is an irrational fear that I think is not uncommon, that reworking a flawed piece may in someway ruin ruin what was right while revealing some deeper problem. This technique allows me a way around it, much doing transfer drawings did in the past. I wouldn’t say it produces great art as an end product, but it is fun and potentially inspiring.
