Adventures in Pastels

Pastels are a newish media to me. This is a drawing of Colleen, in pastel and charcoal done at Spring Studio.

  1. Saw your Self Portrait—in Blue on Strata of the Self today and had to go to your blog. Really nice work! I especially like your sketchy unfinished style. I’m probably not describing what I mean correctly. The close-up (again—I don’t know the words) compositions are also very appealing—almost photographic. Thank you for sending a piece to Strata of the Self so I could discover you.

    • Thanks for your comments. unfinished is fine, although I think I would say unpolished, a friend suggested ‘nascent’. The touch of the artist and the immediacy of the action is important to me in my work.

  2. You’re up on ‘strata of the self’ 🙂
